Week 1 Power Rankings

Despite losing their opener, St. Scholastica grabs the top spot in the first edition of our weekly power rankings. Think your team should be higher? Tell us why.

      1.    St. Scholastica - St. Scholastica played a tough Whitworth team. Although they came out with a loss, they played well against a good opponent. It is safe to say this team is not quite as talented as last years team. We will know a lot about this St. Scholastica team after their game against Eureka.

2.   Westminster - No matter the opponent, (unless it's Maranatha Baptist) winning by forty and pitching a shutout deserves some respect. Westminster faces a stiff conference test this week with Northwestern coming to town.

3.    Greenville - The pre-season number one team in the conference takes a tumble after a brutal loss to Millikin. Greenville will have two weeks to prepare for a huge trip to St. Scholastica.

4.    Eureka - 736 yards. Sam Durley ignites Knox for the NCAA single game record for passing yards. The big questions are can this team play enough defense and will they be able to score against a tough defense from St. Scholastica?

5.    Northwestern College - There was not any doubt they would lose against St. Johns, but they kept it close in the first quarter. This team is a big question mark right now. The next two weeks will tell us a lot about this team with road trips to Westminster and Presentation.

6.    University of Minnesota Morris - Tough loss to Hamline to start out the season. They will have an opportunity to start the conference schedule off on the right foot playing Martin Luther at Cougar Stadium.

7.   Martin Luther - Martin Luther continued its tradition of playing Marantha Baptist. Beating them only by 24 is equivalent to the University of Wisconsin only beating Northern Iowa by 5.

8.   Crown - Crown is still rebuilding after their 2010 team that was the best team in school history. Youth on both sides of the ball will be troublesome for the team throughout the year.

9.    MacMurray - Overmatched. They might have a chance for one win this year and it will be this week against Crown. Do not get your hopes up.
